FIELD NOTE 13 / INFECTION

How to cure
infection.

Use pills to buy time. Find Gene Therapy for the cure.

Gene Therapy is the item that cures infection in No More Room in Hell 2. Phalanx pills delay the condition but do not cure it. In the current official 1.0 overview, one Gene Therapy treatment spawns per match, while a bottle of Phalanx pills contains three doses.

Verification scope: Reviewed August 25, 2026. The one-per-match Gene Therapy limit and three-dose pill bottle come from the official 1.0 introduction. The 30-second treatment process is documented in the original Infection update and should be followed only when the live prompt still matches it.

Phalanx pillsDelays the condition and buys time; the original Infection notes describe this as resetting infection progress. A current bottle has three doses.Pills do not cure infection or grant immunity.
Gene TherapyCures the virus and grants infection immunity. Only one treatment spawns per match in the current official overview. It is not a team-wide cure and should not be assumed available for every infected Responder.

That distinction answers the most important search question: taking a pill is treatment, but it is not the cure. If the objective is to remove the infection rather than delay it, the official answer is Gene Therapy.

The original Infection update says zombie grapples can infect a Responder. The infection chance rises as health falls, while failing the grapple interaction—or being grappled without stamina—was documented as causing infection automatically.

The current game deliberately limits the amount of infection information shown on the HUD. Watch for the symptoms the official material identifies instead of expecting a conventional status timer at every stage.

The official infection sequence begins with incubation, when there may be no visible sign. During onset, coughing becomes one of the earliest signals and nearby Responders can hear it. Visual sensitivity and audio or visual distortion then grow more severe as the infection progresses.

The 1.0 introduction gives another late warning: visible veins indicate that the Responder is close to turning. These symptoms are why waiting to search for treatment until the final stage is risky even though the original notes allowed late use of Phalanx pills.

  1. Treat coughing, visual distortion, or visible veins as an infection warning rather than ordinary damage.
  2. Use Phalanx pills when the immediate goal is to buy more time for the mission or the search for a cure.
  3. Remember that each current bottle has three doses; do not describe one dose as a permanent cure.
  4. Search for Gene Therapy when the infection must be removed. The current official overview says only one spawns in a match.
  5. Follow the live interaction prompt. The original Infection release described a 30-second Gene Therapy process, but this guide does not invent a fixed button or map location.

No. The official wording consistently separates the two items: pills delay or reset infection progress, while Gene Therapy cures the virus and grants immunity. Search results and player discussions sometimes use “treatment” and “cure” interchangeably; the game does not.

Yes. The official 1.0 welcome guide says Gene Therapy can cure an infected Responder and give immunity. The source does not state that this protection transfers to another match, so this page does not claim permanent account-level immunity.

The current official material confirms that one spawns per match but does not publish a stable universal location for every map and scenario. A fixed location copied from a video or community wiki may depend on the selected map, scenario, or game version. This page therefore answers what the cure is without fabricating a route.

This guide does not provide a guaranteed Gene Therapy location, a universal infection timer, a permanent platform-specific button, or an exact infection percentage for every grapple. Those details are not established as current universal rules by the cited official sources.

  • Rescue Beacon explains the consumable that protects a Responder from the next loss.
  • Difficulty Levels compares respawn and permadeath boundaries.
  • Solo Mode covers practice without normal progression or permadeath.
  • Survival Mode explains the three-wave defense loop.
