FIELD NOTE 03 / MODES

Solo mode.
Practice alone.

What independent Responders can practice—and what Solo deliberately does not carry into progression.

Solo Mode lets one Responder practice and learn across the game’s maps without a squad. The official Solo Training design removes normal progression and character permadeath, so use it to learn objectives, movement, combat, and map flow—not to build a persistent Responder.

Verification scope: Reviewed September 26, 2026. Early official material called the feature “Solo Training Mode”; the Armageddon release announcement calls it “Solo Mode.” Resupply 1.1 fixed some missing Beginner Solo supply drops and removed misleading “Find Other Responders” text. Exact menu labels and networking behavior may differ by platform.

What Solo Mode is for

Section titled “What Solo Mode is for”
  • Practicing alone instead of learning a map in a live squad.
  • Repeating combat and objective training without risking a persistent Responder.
  • Learning the maps included by the current build; the official Armageddon announcement says Solo supports all maps.
  • Preparing for co-op without converting practice into an economy or progression shortcut.

Resupply 1.1 fixed a case where Beginner Solo supply drops sometimes did not appear. If an older video tells you to find other Responders in a solo run, that HUD text was removed in 1.1 because there is no teammate to find.

The official Solo Training announcement removed both progression and character permadeath from the mode. That boundary protects the wider economy: a practice run should neither level a normal Responder nor permanently kill one.

This also means Solo should not be treated as a replacement for progression-bearing co-op. If you want persistent Responder growth, loadouts, or the normal risk-and-reward loop, move to a supported multiplayer mode after practice.

  1. Choose the current Solo Mode option rather than relying on an older “Solo Training” video or menu label.
  2. Pick the map or training content you want to learn.
  3. Use the run to identify objectives, routes, interactions, and combat pressure.
  4. Expect the session to remain outside normal Responder progression and permadeath.
  5. Recheck the latest official notes if the game presents a different progression warning after an update.

Solo is not the same as every adjacent search term

Section titled “Solo is not the same as every adjacent search term”

Official sources establish independent practice, but they do not make Solo Mode, private lobby, and offline mode interchangeable. The January design note described PC-local play rather than server play; the later 1.0 announcement also covers console releases but does not document one universal networking workflow. This guide therefore avoids promising offline access or private-lobby features that the cited material does not establish.

No progression is part of the official Solo Training boundary. Use co-op modes for persistent growth unless a newer official patch explicitly changes that rule.

The official design removes character permadeath from solo training. It is intended as a place to practice without losing a persistent character.

The Armageddon announcement says independent Responders can practice and learn on all maps. Map availability can still change with the live build, so the current in-game list is the final authority.
